Button Babes

I usually make these little "button babe" brooches totally by machine.

Constructed fabrics, machine wrapped cords... the only hand stitching is sewing on the button and the brooch back.

But on Sunday 27th February I'm teaching two workshops at Textiles in Focus in Cottenham and we don't have access to machines, so I've had to adapt the method for hand stitching.

And I've discovered not only did I enjoy making these little babes by hand...

I prefer the finished result!

Still one or two places left on the workshops if you hurry... just visit the website for a booking form.

  2. Both versions are so good and such fun Gina, but I think the hand stitched ones might have the edge. Enjoy the workshop and I'm sure your students will.

  3. They are lovely, Gina! I find machining is a means to an end for me, but hand stitching is really relaxing. Hope the workshop goes well Penny x

  10. Another vote for the handmade ones. They have more substance somehow. I am sure that you and the participants on your course will have a great time. Hopefully we will get to see the results?

  12. I think the handmade ones are even prettier than the machine ones (which are lovely too). My grandparents lived in Cottenham, I haven't been there for years - prob wouldn't recognise anything now. Have a great day.

  17. oh, how I wish I could have come for a workshop.... nobody I know does anything crafty...and I never see anything around these parts for classes or fun stuff.......sigh..........

I suppose if I wasn't so lazy... perhaps I could drum up something or somebody.... but, then again... where to begin I suppose ..............
