Day :: Twenty

When I first started sewing I would often buy kits to work from. I can't tell you how many half finished projects I have lurking about that started life as a kit and I just don't have the motivation to finish them... or in some cases even start them. This Christmas Angel from Candle House Crafts was one such kit and she has resided in a drawer, bald and unfinished, for many, many years,

But given the state of the angel/fairy that usually resides on my Christmas tree, this year I decided I would finish her... and very pretty she is too.

But as she balances a little precariously on top of the tree I can help feeling a little sad.

Because I'm still rather fond of my little floozy fairy with her broken wing!

  1. She certainly is very pretty, and perhaps you can be glad the floozy is retiring gracefully. An example to us all when the time comes ;-)

  3. Oh I like both fairies they are so pretty - the floozy is probably glad to be retired. Thanks for the advent blogs they have all been good to read.

  4. Could your floozie angel perch on a less lofty branch, in greater comfort incase her wing lets her down? The new angel is very sweet and well worth finishing.

  6. She is SO pretty but floozy is too and all she needs is a new bit of ostrich feather, some magical fairy dust and she will be able to fly around the room. Ours does every year while we are decorating the tree. The children still totally believe she is real. LOL!! M xx

  7. Love the new angel Gina. I'm sure there are a few years left in the old one yet, though!

  8. YOU have things lying around unfinished... for years!!! No, that can't be true... really?? If that's a true fact then I absolutely believe in Santa Claus and believe there's hope for me yet. x

  9. Ha! I suppose you get your floozy fairy a new feather wing and perhaps update her too.
I love what you did with your new angel's dress. Just a little beading and a few stars and she's perfect.
Some people I know have been known to give others their UFOs so someone else can finish it. I have kits but most of them have not been started.

Both are lovely but I love the name "Floozy" and all it conjures up....

  11. Who says you can have only ONE perfect fairy or angel on a tree?

Find her some new 'wings' and fix her!

    Have a great Yule,

    Sandie xx

  12. ooh, what a difficult decision Gina. I love the name for your floozy fairy and I think I would have to have 2 trees to show them off lol.

  13. Hi Gina,
I went to my studio today and all I accomplished was cleaning it up... I dare say I have more than a few half finished projects too. No kits but just ideas that never really came together. I found an old Victorian doll that is in need of a dress for example. Stuff like that.
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

  14. I'm intrigued. Why is she a floozy?

  15. I have the same tooting angel on the top of my tree :) She is a bit worse for wear too but it wouldn't be the same without her. Maybe your floozy could sit in the tree and sleep off her excesses
