I decided it was about time I combined my love of baking with my love of free machine embroidery and so came up with this little image...
designed to grace the front of an apron. It was meant to be a prototype for some aprons to go into my Etsy shop.
And although I love the end result there will have to be a serious re-think of the design because all those ruffles use up an awful lot of fabric and took me far too long.
After all... what would you be prepared to pay for an apron...
especially one too pretty to wipe your floury hands on?

Such a pretty apron and far too good to muck up during a cooking session! Hope you come up with a design which is less time and fabric consuming.
I used to have an apron! Not as pretty as yours though. Would you iron the ruffles?

Don't cheap out on them....just make a couple of great ones and offer them for sale.... at whatever price you feel is fair.... there is always somebody who appreciates nice work and will buy them.

I love the embroidery but agree that you would have to simplify the design to make it profitable. Or could you offer it as made-to-order?

Very Pretty, not sure how much you should charge for one though, with the frills quite a lot, as Iz says a to order is a great idea. I'm a wipe my mucky hands sort of person so a pretty apron is not for me, but I do like that one maybe try a 'Bake me a Loaf' one or how about 'Use Your Loaf'
I agree, this is a 'whoops you are early for afternoon tea' type of apron but I love it, You could just bind the bottom and not have the frills but it wouldnt be as gorgeous.I paid about 20 Australian dollars for a very utilitarian one and no where near as nice as this.
Put on a price and see what happens.
Don't even get me started on how to price things appropriately!

Gorgeous. I couldn't wear it I always wipe my hands down my apron and I'd be devastated if I stained it.
Oh Gina -- that's adorable! That's the hard part about beautiful handmade goodies -- people often don't realize all the time and materials that go into them -- they expect to pay the same as they would for a quickly made item from the bargain store. I LOVE your new apron!

It's totally gorgeous, but what about the ironing, I remember my obsession with putting frills on my daughters' dresses, they looked so lovely till they came out of the washing machine, and all made in cotton too.
I love to wear an apron, but I have to agree yours is soooooo pretty, I'm not sure I would want to wear it cooking. Maybe just for dusting! It really is special!
Gorgeous! Definitely one for posing in rather that serious cooking (you haven't seen how far I can splash Bolognese Sauce!)

Now, Icome from a totally different angle and see this pinny being modelled with the Marie Antoinette hairdo....... possible uses? Advertising a bakery/baking classes?
Definitely the pinny to wear over your best frock when serving tea and cakes to your 'lady' friends.
It's a beautiful pinny and definitely not one to wear whilst you are actually baking, but to quickly put on when visitors arrive!
The cake motif is gorgeous and do you know I think it would look just as good on a simple linen or calico apron. (I'm craving cake now I've seen this!)
